One of the main aims of the club is to make polo a sport accessible to all, and provide top level tuition at a price affordable for students, participation in competition is also actively encouraged. Due to the invaluable help of our highly-esteemed professional HPA coach Giles Ormerod and his staff at Druids Lodge Polo Club, we have been able to achieve these objectives.
Beginners’ tuition is aimed at a level where little or no experience of polo or horse ridding is required. In fact some of our most successfully players had hardly ridden a horse prior to their involvement with EUPC. University provides a fantastic opportunity to learn this exciting and noble sport at a subsidised rate; in fact it is likely that many would not ordinarily consider starting at such a low level without this added affordability. Last year’s beginners hosted their own tournament as well as competed in both the Arena and Outdoor University Nationals.
Every year the club attracts many people to join as affiliated members; for those who want to support us in competition, and involve themselves in the social events that we hold, these members can make the most of EUPC without engaging in gaming activities. As a student organisation we feel that our social elements are quintessential. Events offer a unique opportunity for further exposure of our activities, and allow members to integrate within the club. Our events aim at raising awareness of our activities and further encourage support and involvement, and long-term memberships towards those who may feel excluded due to their sporting skills. Events also offer an opportunity to raise money for charitable causes, and of course, offer a good platform for sponsorship exposure.
